TDG Communications, the Deadwood-based full-service advertising and public relations firm, announced that Joe Rainboth of Spearfish has joined the staff as public relations specialist.

Rainboth has more than five years of experience in marketing and higher education. Since 2006, he served as an admissions counselor for the University of South Dakota. He began his new responsibilities with TDG on Sept. 10.

“I’m thrilled to be joining western South Dakota’s premier advertising and marketing agency,” Rainboth said. “TDG has proven that they are a step ahead in terms of understanding clients and providing top-notch service. I hope to bring new ideas to help TDG’s clients.”

Throughout his time working with South Dakota school districts, Rainboth also served as USD’s territory manager for every state but Minnesota and Nebraska. He has counseled students and families at career and college fairs from Pittsburgh to Las Vegas.

“Joe’s experience and background fit well with our objective to expand our work in social media, online marketing and traditional public relations,” said Dan Daly, director of public relations at TDG. “He’s already making great contributions to our social media work for clients in South Dakota and Illinois.”

Rainboth grew up on a family farm and graduated from high school in Marcus, Iowa. He earned his bachelor of science degree from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, where he majored in contemporary media and journalism. He and his wife Brandie make their home in nearby Spearfish.
